I have always drawn and studied at Leeds College of Art and Design. I tend to draw every day as I miss it when I don’t. I’m based in West Yorkshire and love drawing dogs of any breed. I always start with the eyes in any portrait and this helps me build an immediate connection with the dog’s personality. I feel that dogs especially convey this with their eyes and is why I love to draw them. I have a beautiful whippet called Ned and prior to Ned had a much loved and missed 20 year old ginger cat, Omar. My art work has been presented on ITV’s Calendar News after drawing a portrait of racehorse Burrow Seven to raise money for MND research. I use pastel as it adds a beautiful softness and painterly quality to produce a highly realistic portrait.
